Acquiring prospective ground for exploration in unsurveyed territory (areas) of Manitoba that are designated as claim staking only, requires that the mineral claim(s) have to be physically staked. To stake a claim a person must have a prospectors license and he/she must be sure of his/her location on the ground. Manitoba has an organized Mining Act and a detailed set of regulations governing the staking of mineral claims.

Staking a mining claim may appear simple at first glance, however there are some items that need :

- Many companies wishing to stake mining claims may not be familiar with these regulations, requiring a learning curve that could cost time and money.

- Some companies do not have licensed prospectors or claim stakers or they lack experience with the terrian. Gaining experience in unknown areas could require a great deal of time.

- Locating boundaries of adjoining mining claims is another very important factor to consider when staking claims in areas that have active mining claims or mine leases. Overstaking onto existing claims can cause disputes with neighbouring owners, your claims could be rejected or result in your being required to restake them.

- Staking claims in all seasons and in remote areas requires that you have proper safety equipment, instruments and tools, transportation, wilderness skills, employee insurance, reliable communications and accomodations, among other things. This could involve a considerable cost outlay, additional management work load and the need for in field supervision staff.
